Description

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to:

1. Enhance technical skills of participants to classify, categorize and estimate hydrocarbon resources in oil and gas assets.

2. To demonstrate PRMS is a powerful management tool that is widely used in the industry.

3. Familiarize the participants with the latest definitions of hydrocarbon resources of various categories as per PRMS.

4. Understand the process of hydrocarbon maturation as resources move from one class to another.

5. Understand how a resource within a given classification is placed in appropriate categories.

6. Provide some guidelines whether a hydrocarbon resource can be classified into “Reserves”.

7. Familiarize with SEC proved reserves requirements.

Who Should Attend?

This course is intended for technical staff who are or will be responsible for reporting of hydrocarbon resources in their Company or for external reporting including SEC. Technical disciplines may include:

• Reservoir Engineers

• Geoscientists

• Production Technologists

Students of Petroleum Engineering who want to have an understanding hydrocarbon resource volume estimation and classification will also find the course useful.

Prerequisites

Participants should be familiar with the upstream oil and gas business in general. Benefits of Attending the Course Understanding of hydrocarbon resource volume maturation process and the uncertainty associated with estimation of hydrocarbon resource volume is a critical skill for many personnel in oil and gas industry. Participation in this course delivered by a veteran in oil industry with four decades of experience in major IOC and NOC will go a long way in meeting this critical skill gap.

Instructor Biography

Biswajit Choudhuri is a Petroleum Engineer with about four decades of experience in major E&P companies including NOC and IOC. He was a technical authority in Reservoir Engineering in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Shell. He has been extensively involved in estimation and classification of hydrocarbon resources as an Engineer, reviewer, and approver. He has delivered numerous training programs related to this subject in PDO and other entities over last decade.
