This webinar introduces you about interesting applications of computer vision and generative AI in this lucrative field. We will discuss how images are processed and analyzed in computers, how object detection and segmentation work, updates on the development of GenAI, and last but not least, how these are used in petroleum geosciences. We will go through a case study of sandstone mineral segmentation to prepare for the next course series in September where you will do more practical hands-on with Python.

Webinar Objectives

Introduction to image processing: How computers see images?

Traditional image analysis

Computer vision methods: object detection and segmentation

Development of new era: GenAI image generation

Application of computer vision and GenAI in petroleum geosciences

Case study: Segmentation of mineral in thin slice of sandstone
